New Journal Publication: Fengshui meets AI
When Fengshui Meets AI - what would happen? Read our newly published paper in Journal of Real Estate Research. Coauthors, Siqi Zheng, Deng Yang Koh, Wen-Chi Liao and Ganmin Yin, measure the economic value of Fengshui in commercial real estate in Singapore.
They developed a framework that integrates classical Feng Shui principles with digital imagery and artificial intelligence to measure its relevance for commercial real estate valuation. We formalize five core elements from the Form School tradition—Mountain, Water, Bright Hall, Xing Sha, and Qi—and design an AI-assisted workflow to evaluate these features using satellite imagery. The resulting indicators are incorporated into hedonic pricing models. Feng Shui characteristics are significantly associated with property prices, with Water and Xing Sha emerging as the most influential elements. Our findings demonstrate how AI can operationalize traditional spatial heuristics to enhance real estate valuation.
